Alex Pratley
About
Alex Pratley is a London-based Baritone hailing from Guildford, Surrey. In 2022, he graduated with distinction from the Royal Birmingham Conservatoire with his Master of Music in Vocal Performance, where he studied under Gwion Thomas and Jonathan Gunthorpe. He began singing when he joined the Guildford Cathedral Choir as a chorister at the tender age of 7 and carried on throughout his school years, singing in choirs such as the Rodolfus Choir and the National Youth Choirs of Great Britain. Alex also sings in professional ensembles and choirs throughout the country, and works extensively with the ensemble Horizon Voices as their resident bass/beatboxer and as an educator within their outreach programme.

Alex will be joining The Chiltern Choir as the bass soloist in Beethoven’s Mass in C and Choral Fantasia.

Alex is honoured to be joining Ian Buckle and Jonathan Gunthorpe in this concert celebrating A. E. Housman at Stapleford Granary.
Ian’s wonderful programme sees Alex and Jonathan read and perform Housman’s poetry in spoken word and famous song settings, interspersed with solo piano works inspired by Housman’s lyricism. This will be a musical feast, not to be missed!

Alex will be understudying Roderick Williams in this performance of Brahms’ Requiem for the Stour Singers’ 50th Anniversary Concert. The soprano soloist is Robyn Pullen, with Lynn Arnold and Charles Matthews on piano.
